These recipes and inspirations have been passed down through generations by knowledgeable cooks.

The cookbook was created thanks to the competition titled “From Grandma’s Notebook – Share a traditional recipe”, which we organised for the residents in the regions covered by the Programme area. We gathered authentic culinary recipes, including those that are lesser-known and deserve to be remembered.

We received a remarkable number of submissions – almost 100! The youngest participant was just 12 years old, while the oldest was 78. Each not only provides a method for preparing a dish but also tells a story – a family history, a personal narrative that illustrates how various influences blend to create a rich and diverse cultural mosaic. This culinary diversity includes Polish, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Lithuanian, and Jewish influences, as well as elements of highland cuisine from the Lemko and Boyko regions.

We hope that this book will inspire you to cook and explore the traditional flavours of the borderland.

The cookbook is prepared only in Polish and Ukrainian languages and is available
for download at the link HERE.

Enjoy!

For the first time in the Programme, we have the pleasure of sharing a particularly ‘tasty’ result of our work – a cookbook featuring 41 recipes from the Polish-Ukrainian borderland.
