Numbers usually reflect reality in the simplest and most specific way, that is why we present the \u2018Programme in numbers\u2019 series, previously carried out on the PBU 2014-2020 website, to showcase the Interreg NEXT Poland \u2013 Ukraine 2021-2027 Programme, its projects, activities and joint cross-border achievements through the lens of numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Programme \u2013 both in its current and previous versions \u2013 supports projects in the field of culture and those related to the development of sustainable tourism. Its area includes sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as numerous places of exceptional historical and cultural value, including museums, open-air museums and art galleries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thanks to its valuable natural areas and many cultural heritage sites, the Polish-Ukrainian borderland has great potential for tourism development. Poland and Ukraine share a common history, the positive aspects of which are worth emphasising to strengthen ties between communities on both sides of the border. The increase in the number of tourists creates opportunities for the development of the local economy and generates additional income for residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The TOURISM priority of the Programme includes one large infrastructure project, \u2018The Carpathian Narrow-gauge Railways \u2013 a journey to the footsteps of Carpathian forest railways\u2019 (acronym TrainToNature<\/em>), worth 3.9 M EUR. The project partners from the Podkarpackie Voivodeship and the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast want to make even better use of the tourist potential of narrow-gauge forest railways in both regions. They plan to achieve this through joint activities on both sides of the border, in the villages of Majdan (PL) and Vyhoda (UA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n More information about the TrainToNature<\/em> project can be found HERE<\/a>.
