PL-UA Programme Zone in Tomaszów Lubelski

26.06.2025

On 7 June 2025, the “Tomaszów Lubelski Days” took place, an event that attracts many residents of the town and the entire region every year. This year’s celebrations also included a European element – the PL-UA Programme Zone appeared on the town square, prepared by the Regional Contact Point (RCP) in Lublin.

It served as a space for meetings, conversations and fun, and above all as an opportunity to show how the Programme is changing the local reality. Tomaszów Lubelski and institutions from the region have been actively using the opportunities offered by the Programme for years and have much to be proud of.

The PL-UA Programme is not only about infrastructure but above all about the possibility of building cooperation and sharing experience with partners from Ukraine. We can see the real impact of these activities on improving the quality of life of our residents

The PL-UA Programme is not only about infrastructure but above all about the possibility of building cooperation and sharing experience with partners from Ukraine. We can see the real impact of these activities on improving the quality of life of our residents, emphasized Wojciech Żukowski, Mayor of Tomaszów Lubelski.

Among the partners presenting their projects was the Voivodeship Occupational Medicine Center, Prevention and Treatment Unit in Lublin, which is implementing the Rise2Health project. Visitors to the Programme Zone could benefit from free preventive medical check-ups, including blood pressure and glucose level measurements, and take part in an educational campaign on the early detection of cancer.

The presentation by the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Lublin, which is implementing the ClimSafe project, also attracted considerable interest. A special attraction for visitors was the opportunity to visit the mobile command centre of the Fire Service and see the equipment purchased under the project. Firefighters were eager to share information about the activities carried out as part of the project, the main objective of which is to improve the effectiveness of rescue and firefighting services.

As the lead partner of the EcoReserve project, the town of Tomaszów Lubelski organised ecological workshops for children and young people within the PL-UA Programme Zone. Participants learned how to properly sort waste. An additional attraction was a virtual presentation of modern methods of sealing water and sewage installations, which will be applied during the investment planned within the project. Jan Fila, President of the Municipal Utility Company in Tomaszów Lubelski, which is a partner in the project, highlighted the significant impact of the Programme on improving the quality of life of local communities.

At the PL-UA Programme stand, where RCP representatives shared their knowledge and experience, visitors could learn more about the projects being implemented. Children eagerly took part in a knowledge quiz on the European Union and Polish-Ukrainian cross-border cooperation, and the animation zone with a photo booth, balloons, popcorn and cotton candy was lively throughout the day. The PL-UA Programme Zone was an important part of this year’s Tomaszów Lubelski Days. It demonstrated that EU-funded projects are not only about investments but above all about concrete actions that improve the quality of life of residents today and in the future.
