As part of the project “A New Life for the Historical Parks of Vyshnivets and Tarnobrzeg” (acronym EcoParks), four environmental cleanup eco-actions were caried out in Ternopil region. The activities focused on historic park areas surrounding Vyshnivets Palace and castles in Zbarazh, Terebovlia, and Yazlovets.
Altogether, more than 120 participants – students from local educational institutions participated in the cleanups. They represented Vyshnivets Vocational Lyceum, Ternopil National Pedagogical University, West Ukrainian National University, Terebovlia Vocational College of Culture and Arts, Ternopil Vocational College, and Ivan Puliui Ternopil National Technical University. During the events, the youth cleared the areas of litter and overgrowth, tidied up alleys, and supported the staff of the National Reserve “Castles of Ternopil Region” in maintaining the park areas. Participants were provided with all necessary equipment and took part in guided tours that introduced the history of the castles and their park complexes.
It was important for us to engage young people in preserving cultural and natural heritage, and to foster a sense of environmental responsibility. These kinds of initiatives not only improve the condition of historical landmarks but also promote cooperation between educational institutions, local communities, and cultural organizations. Young people gain practical volunteer experience, while communities gain a shared sense of involvement in protecting their heritage
The eco-action in Vyshnivets had an unexpected continuation thanks to the initiative of activist Ms. Andriana Mrochok, who saw the news about it in the Internet and decided to make the park even more beautiful. After she shared a post in the Facebook groups «Світ Троянди» (ENG “The world of Rose”) and «Троянди / Roses / Догляд / Препарати» (ENG “Roses / Care / Products”), rose lovers from across Ukraine united to donate flowers to the garden of Vyshnivets Palace. Some transferred funds, while others provided home-grown rose seedlings free of charge. Thanks to this initiative, more than 150 rose bushes — symbols of beauty, renewal, and love for heritage — were planted on the grounds of Vyshnivets Palace gardens.
The next, fifth eco-action, will take place in 2026 at the castle in the village of Pidzamochok, where participants will continue the meaningful mission of preserving the environment and the historical monuments of Ternopil region.
