The Polish-Ukrainian border region faces numerous challenges, such as a low level of socio-economic development, depopulation, an aging society, and the consequences of the pandemic and the ongoing war in Ukraine. Additionally, cross-border cooperation, despite existing contacts, remains limited in scope and does not fully address the current needs of residents and institutions.
The response to these challenges is the implementation of the project “Cooperation Across Borders – Small Project Fund on the Polish-Ukrainian Borderland” (acronym: SmallCBB), which aims to build mutual trust and support cooperation between residents and institutions on both sides of the border through the implementation of small projects. The project provides for the organization of three calls for small projects, as well as a wide range of informational and training activities targeted at potential applicants.
Co-financing of small projects carried out under the Small Project Fund (SPF) will enable the development of cooperation in the fields of culture, education, health, and social integration. Thanks to this, it will be possible, among other things, to strengthen contacts, exchange experiences, organize joint events, and create lasting relationships between partners from Poland and Ukraine.
Small projects implemented in the Polish-Ukrainian border region will be directly addressed to the residents of this area, serving local communities by activating them to cooperate, strengthening contacts, and supporting the building and reinforcement of a shared identity.
