We invite you to meet the winners of the ‘Our Backyard’ competition. As part of the series, we will present the 13 best projects from Poland and Ukraine. Each one includes an original description of the work carried out and photographic or/and film documentation.

🌻 ‘In the School Garden’ project

Participants: pupils from V-IX class, age 11-14
Author’s description of the project:
It all started with a dream. A dream that the school playground would become not just a space surrounding the building, but the heart of our school life. When we heard about the ‘Our Backyard’ competition, we realised: this is our chance!

🌞 How did it go?
It was weeks of hard work. Our ‘creativity marathon’ brought everyone together: from first-graders to graduates, from teachers to parents. Together we planted flowers, painted tyres and made decorations. It wasn’t easy, but laughter, jokes and a shared goal made the whole process unforgettable.
🧑🌾What have we created?
We didn’t just take part in the competition – we transformed the space. Now our courtyard has:
- a cosy spot for reading outdoors;
- colourful works of art created by us;
- refurbished, eye-catching flowerbeds.
This place will now be a source of inspiration for everyone who steps through the school gates. The most important outcome is not only the beautiful surroundings, but also a sense of unity and cooperation. We have proven to ourselves that by working as a single team, we can achieve any goal!
“Our garden” is more than just a project. It is a space created with boundless love!!
