The implementation of environmental projects under the Programme goes beyond infrastructure investments such as the construction and modernisation of sewage networks, water and wastewater management systems, or nature protection infrastructure.
These activities are complemented by soft initiatives that strengthen the sustainability of project results, support the proper use of the developed infrastructure, and promote knowledge about environmental protection. Even the best-designed infrastructure will not deliver its full results without conscious and responsible users.
As part of the projects, partners are implementing:
31 information and educational campaigns
aimed at raising environmental awareness.
As many as 10 out of 47 environmental projects implemented under this Priority include information and educational campaigns. They are carried out within the following projects: CleanBug, CBBC, ZeroHeracleum, ParksMatter, EcoParks, BioGreenInfra, GreenAction, Youth4EcoEdu, BIODIVERSITY and WildInCity.
Most campaigns are addressed to children and young people, as environmental awareness and responsible attitudes towards the environment should be developed from an early age. The remaining campaigns engage adults, representatives of public institutions, civil society organisations and local communities on both sides of the border, demonstrating that environmental protection is a shared responsibility of the entire community.
Educational activities increase knowledge in the fields of nature conservation, sustainable resource management, proper waste management and pollution reduction. They strengthen the sense of shared responsibility and encourage people to undertake everyday, practical pro-environmental actions.
