PARTNER
Volyn Regional Clinical Hospital (Volyn Oblast, Ukraine)
The COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, rising morbidity and mortality rates from diseases of civilization such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases, and an aging population are significant challenges facing the cross-border areas of Poland and Ukraine. The increased flow of patients has strained staff and hospital facilities, leading to bottlenecks in key areas like surgery, which is crucial for treating cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and managing healthcare in extreme situations.
The Voivodeship Hospital in Suwałki and the Volyn Regional Clinical Hospital have decided to implement the LeanHealthcare project, aimed at improving equal access to specialist medicine in the field of surgery. The Polish partner will adapt existing premises to meet the needs of an operating complex, including the purchase of endoscopic surgery instruments such as resectoscopes and ureterorenoscopes, as well as imaging equipment like a C-arm. Additionally, operating room equipment—including operating tables and lighting, carts, supply units, anesthesia systems, monitoring systems, lung ventilators, diathermy units, and IT equipment—will be acquired.
The Volyn Hospital will also obtain imaging equipment (C-arm, ultrasound) and operating room equipment (operating tables and lighting, endoscopic surgery tools such as laparoscopes, endoscopes, nephroscopes, ureterorenoscopes, holmium lasers, electrosurgical devices, etc.). Furthermore, joint training sessions, including study visits and workshop, will be organized for hospital staff. A process mapping report with recommendations for future Lean Healthcare solutions will also be developed.
The added value of this project lies in combining improved healthcare services with innovative management solutions, which will provide long-term benefits to the residents of both regions.
