Project description

In the agglomerations of Siedlce (PL) and Ivano-Frankivsk (UA), there are ongoing issues related to the reliability and safety of the drinking water supply. Failures of water supply networks lead to water losses and hinder residents’ access to this essential resource. The existing water supply infrastructure requires modernisation  and expansion  to meet the growing needs of the inhabitants and ensure reliable access to drinking water.

Thanks to the IFSynergy project, the entire water supply system in Siedlce and Ivano-Frankivsk will be improved by installing modern equipment with monitoring and management systems (IT). These improvements will help to reduce water losses in the public supply system in both cities. The project includes the construction of the water treatment plant in Siedlce and upgrade of 40 water pumping stations in Ivano-Frankivsk. In addition, the water supply networks in Siedlce will be expanded, and specialized vehicles for technical services will be purchased. The project partners will also exchange experience in the operation and maintenance of automatic water production control systems and process management. Educational and social campaigns will be carried out to raise residents' awareness of water saving and the benefits of sustainable resource management.

The project will improve sustainable management and access to safe drinking water for residents of both cities, which in turn will improve the quality of life in the implementation region and support the development of the border areas of Poland and Ukraine. Public education will help in the long-term maintenance of changes and care for the natural environment.
