Project description

In the cross-border area involving the Białystok region in Poland and the Rivne region in Ukraine access to the healthcare for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases is limited. It lacks. There is a lack of adequate medical infrastructure, up-to-date knowledge of new treatments, and preventative measures. This has resulted in high mortality and disability rates in the population.

The partners aim to address these issues by purchasing specialised equipment, sharing medical knowledge, and promoting prevention in hospitals in Białystok and Rivne. Białystok hospital will acquire a CT scanner, which can detect conditions such as atherosclerosis, aortic aneurysm, pulmonary embolism, post-infarction scars, valve function issues, and pericardial diseases. In Rivne, the operating block of the department of endovascular surgery will be refurbished, and the Angiography Interventional System will be installed.
To further improve patient care, training courses will be organised for hospital staff in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. These courses will also provide an opportunity for staff to familiarise themselves with testing and treatment methods and procedures in both hospitals. ‘Open Days’ will be held at both hospitals, offering the public a chance to learn about cardiovascular diseases and raising awareness of prevention and healthy lifestyles.

The purchased equipment will continue to be used for diagnostics, and the collaboration between partner hospitals will endure. Thanks to the high-tech medical devices and the new skills acquired by the medical staff, patients will receive more effective and faster treatment even after the project ends.
