Project description

Fire and disasters do not stop at borders and neither does their impact. Considering the uniqueness of natural resources located in the Programme area, it is crucial to protect them also from both climate and non-climate related natural risks and risks linked to human activities. Joint cooperation in this regard is needed to preserve them for present and future generations. Anthropogenic activities negatively impact flora and fauna on the Programme area.

Partners of the C-bFireProtection project will carry out necessary purchases of equipment for  firefighting units in the Wizna commune (PL) and Ternopil oblast (UA), strengthening the cross-border emergency response capacity. The Polish partner will purchase two firefighting vehicles for this purpose. The Ukrainian side will gain a Mobilab laboratory vehicle for the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) rescue operations. Joint trainings will enhance firefighters’ skills and efficiency of operations in specific emergency situations under different conditions. Four  special training events will be organized for the Polish and Ukrainian participants. Participants will practise, i.a.: configuring their equipment, preparing to enter the danger zone, donning personal protective equipment andusing messages. In addition to this, the partners will develop the “Cross-border Risk Management Strategy” and “Cross-border Partnership for Disaster Risk Management” for increased safety.

The C-bFireProtection project will help create a region adapted to the needs and challenges of natural and man-made hazards. It will reduce the possibility of disasters and ensure that the associated losses are minimised.
