Numbers are the best way to illustrate the scale of activities and the pace at which cross-border cooperation is developing under the PL-UA Programme. They help paint a clear picture of the joint actions, projects, and initiatives implemented on both sides of the border.

In the previous episode of the ‘Programme in Numbers’, we presented various facts and figures related to the Programme’s activities – the number of years of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation, the number of projects implemented so far, the area covered by the Programme, and the scope of its information and communication activities.

This time, we take a look at the budget available to the Programme to carry out its activities and achieve its objectives.

is the total budget of the Poland – Ukraine Programme 2021-2027

Put simply, the budget consists predominantly (around 90%) of co-financing from the European Union and national contributions from the institutions implementing the projects.

EU co-financing for the Programme PL-UA 2021-2027 amounts to 235.9 M EUR. The allocation of the budget among the Programme’s priorities is as follows:

The Programme’s history covers 22 years of intensive and extremely interesting work and cooperation. Here is how the Programme’s total budget has developed over its 4 previous editions:

The combined budget of all editions of the Programme amounts to 725.4 M EUR, of which 651 M EUR came from the EU.

These funds have been allocated to activities and cross-border projects that support development processes, increase the regions’ competitiveness, help level opportunities, improve access to essential social services and contribute to enhancing the safety of local communities.

We are keeping our fingers crossed that the budget for the next edition of the Programme for 2028–2034 will respond as effectively as possible to the needs and expectations of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland.
